Maha Kalabairava Ashtami falls on the eighth day of Full Moon. Lord Maha Kalabairava is the fierce form of Lord Shiva with dark complexion, riding on his celestial vehicle – Dog (Four legs represents the Four Vedas such as Rig, Yajur, Sama and Adharvana Vedas.). Worship of Lord Maha Kalabairav on this day is treated as most propitious. Worship of Mahakalabairav brings abundance of Courage, Confindence, Joy and Happiness and also makes one free from all the negative energies of lust, greed and anger. Maha Kalabairav rules the Universe with the fundamental nature of ‘Time’ (Kala – milliseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, week, months, year etc..).
